FLOODS MAKE VICTIMS IN ROMANIA

Television footage from the worst-affected north of the country showed deluged fields and damaged roads, houses still meters deep in water from swollen rivers and barefoot children scrabbling to rescue stranded animals. Dozens of villages were reported to be without power after pylons were knocked down.

The water management authority is now attempting to consolidate dams on the Danube on the Fetesti-Braila-Galati, Tulcea and Danube Delta sectors. Water levels in the eastern monitoring stations of Braila and Fetesti currently exceed the historic rates attained in 2006.

Worst affected areas are the regions from north and north east,Galati is not yet seriously affected but being surrounded by waters (Siret and Danube rivers with growing debits) more and more villages will continue to be in danger, especially when rain, yellow code is announced for the coming days.

ROLDA online auction, originally started to raise the much needed funds to continue the free local sterilization campaign will be held and advertised also to give a portion of these funds for building small wood doghouses for the families with dogs in affected areas, where hundred people lost everything including the house and animals if not killed by the heavy rains, remain homeless.

ROLDA would like to deliver at least 100 doghouses and an important quantity of dog food for animals surviving the affected zones in Moldavia.
